The second weekend of Class One explores the science of flexibility and its historical continuity. Learn about where range of motion comes from and the many theories about stretching. Observing the most current research today, see how joint range can be improved without stretching. Learn basic neurophysiology and how muscles create tension.
The Yoga Integrated Science 200 hour program, comprised of six courses over seven weekends and is approved to meet the Yoga Alliance 200 hour requirements. This program is for anyone who wants to learn about the system of Yoga to deepen their practice or become a certified yoga instructor. This program will cover the origins of Hatha Yoga, historical and scientific information on flexibility and range of motion, structural anatomy and basic mechanics of lower body, trunk and spine, upper body and cervical regions of the body, and a comprehensive analysis of various applicable Hatha Yoga Poses.
This course also includes an introduction to the science of adjusting, how to incorporate yoga props, yoga philosophy and ethics, pranayama/ breathing techniques and meditation, general sequencing techniques, the business of Yoga, and a daily yoga practice. Several of the most influential Yoga Styles and methods will be introduced, analyzed, and directly experienced. If you are already a 200 hour instructor, you may take an individual class independently by registering for a single three day or four day course.
