14 hour Elective Credit toward your 300 hour coursework. It is advised that all students have completed a basic 200 hour RYS course before registering for this course, but not required. This class is open to all levels, teachers and students alike. Class runs from 9am -5:30pm each day and includes both academic workshops and practical studio class work.
Learn the science behind Pilates and Yoga, relating their intentions, resistance techniques, goals, positions, methodology, goals, and perspectives.
Define the word “Core” as to what they mean to a Yoga or Pilates practitioner. Explore the strength and stillness of Yoga with the trunk strengthening exercises of Pilates. Be able to analyze how one can complement the other. Experience first-hand the strategic integration of both of these disciplines to help to achieve muscular balance and symmetry in the body.
This workshop will employ various resistance equipment, including elastic tubing, pilates rings, yoga straps, and yoga blocks. As time permits, gravity based resistance equipment and machines will be employed to show how yoga and pilates can be used in a personal training situation. The possibilities are endless for this type of training!
