This is a 2 day workshop focusing on the neck and back. Saturday, 11/16/2019 – Sunday, 11/17/2019, from 9-5:00 each day.
This class may be taken alone, or as an elective for the the 300 hour Certification Program.
About this course:
Many people experience neck and back issues. They often they seek out Yoga as a source of relief. It is extremely important to assess the relationship between joints from head to toe in these students to avoid further injury.
In this workshop, we will employ a biomechanical take on the methods of the late B.K.S Iyengar. Students attending this workshop will learn how to use classic Yoga positions to evaluate range of motion.
Attendees will learn why creating powerful isometric resistance challenges is important. Students will learn how to improve range of motion and overall joint stability in clients with neck and back challenges. We will explore how weakness in the core can negatively impact neck and back mobility. Students will learn and practice how to construct and cue a practice that helps practitioners in these areas.
Students will explore how this evaluation process can be a great indicator of a client’s ability to deal with external loads and various postures in his or her exercise program.
This hands on elective will utilize classroom time and studio time to help students thoroughly understand the content.
