This is a 3 day workshop. The Biomechanics of the Trunk and Spine is required content for the Yoga Integrated Science 300 hour Teacher Training Program.
This workshop is scheduled for Friday, 10/12/18 – Sunday, 10/14/18, from 11-5:00 each day.
This course can also be taken by itself for anyone interested in learning more about the anatomy of the trunk and spine.
About this course:
This 3 day workshop focuses on an overview of the muscular system for the trunk and spine. Get a detailed look at muscle function and relevance. You will learn to understand the joint mechanics at work when teaching and practicing yoga.
Learn how to perform and apply detailed range of motion evaluations for the trunk and spine to yoga poses. This hands on workshop focuses on poses chosen specifically for this course.
Gain a better understanding of how and why adjustments may be necessary for some trunk-related poses. Learn about the importance of special modifications. We will be discussing group and individual clients so you can cue them properly.
Next, we will discuss the many therapeutic applications for common spinal ailments. We will be taking a critical look at the back pain industry and spinal injuries. Get a better understanding this important area of the body.
Finally, we will take a look at the impact of shoulder stands and headstands as related to the trunk and spine. We will be exploring why these poses may not be appropriate for many clients. Learn why the core muscles are so important to overall health and wellness.
This 3 day, hands on workshop gives you applicable techniques meaningful experience you will be able to apply immediately with your one-on-one clients and group classes.
